Dream Fulfilled: Owning A Kosher Bagel Bakery

Arnold Greenspun started the Greenspun Bagel Company with one goal in mind: to fulfill his dream of making the freshest, kosher bagel available in the Mid-Atlantic area.

Founded in March 2005, the company started bagel production a year later and now produces over 10,000 bagels daily. Its main customers are food services, caterers, restaurants, schools, colleges and universities.

The company sells its bagels three ways: unbaked and frozen, baked and frozen; and baked and fresh. Even though 75 percent of the bagels it sells are of the plain variety, the company makes 24 other varieties, from cranberry apple and chocolate chip to garden vegetable and black Russian. Each variety has its own recipe and is certified by Star K and produced kosher, pareve, pas yisroel, and yoshon.

 

Greenspun Bagel Co. home office and bakery facilities are both located off Reisterstown Road in Pikesville, Maryland.

About Arnold Greenspun

A Baltimore native, Arnold Greenspun has owned and operated several retail bagel shops in Federal Hill and Towson, and a café on Johns Hopkins Bayview campus.

Owning and operating a wholesale bagel bakery fulfills one of his life-long dreams.

Mr. Greenspun graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park, and the University of Baltimore, School of Law. He previously worked as an attorney for the U.S. government, with the Internal Revenue Service and the Interstate Commerce Commission. He was also appointed to serve on President Ford's Clemency Board which reviewed and upgraded discharges from the Army during the Vietnam War.

He is currently resides in Pikesville with his wife, Susan. He is a proud father and grandfather, and member of Beth Tfiloh congregation in Baltimore.
