Star-K Certified
Today’s food service industry counts more than 400 different certifications available to a company’s products, but in order for a product to be truly kosher—meaning that it meets the dietary requirements of Jewish Law—it must be certified.
Star-K is a kosher certification agency located in Baltimore, MD and overseen by Rabbi Moshe Heinemann, who abides by the three R’s of certification: reliability, reputation, and respect. Rabbi Heinemann is one of the leading authorities in kosher certification and relies on his own personal experience, a network of rabbinic Kashrus administrators, food scientists, and field supervisors to ensure accuracy.
In the certification process, two sources are examined to proclaim a food as kosher: the source of the ingredients and the status of the production equipment. Greenspun Bagel’s production facilities have been thoroughly examined and proclaimed kosher by Star-K. In addition, all of the ingredients that go into our bagels are kosher. Each bagel variety has its own recipe and is produced kosher, pareve, pas yisroel, and yoshon.
